Durif grapes are sourced from the Riverina wine region, picked when the flavours and tannins are ripe and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged on oak for around six months to balance out the rich fruit. After gentle fining and filtering it is bottled and ready to go.
Beautifully dark and intense in colour, this wine shows classic juicy blackberry and blueberry aromas. Ripe, robust tannins balance out layers of plum, chocolate and liquorice. It requires a good amount of time to breathe before enjoying.
Dark by name and dark by nature this wine suits hearty meals served with intense flavours. Think slow cooked beef ragu with tagliatelle or braised lamb shanks with creamy mash and gremolata. Our favourite match is homemade chunky beef and pepper pie with buttery rich pastry and a side of lightly steamed green beans, followed by Rebecca’s famous rich, dark chocolate cake.
